Health: Keep your skin healthy!
some good reminders and some new ideas:
1. Green tea: Antioxidants in green tea protect you from wrinkling and sun damage. It has anti-inflammatory properties that help with redness and swelling. Iced is best as sometimes hot drinks can increase redness. However, you must let it seep in hot water before pouring it over ice as it won't seep in cold water.
2. Water: don't forget and don't skimp! Your body is 80% water. Even a little bit of dehydration can cause huge decreases in mental functioning, let alone allow your skin to heal itself or keep it healthy.
3. Sleep: lack of it will show all over your face.
4. Limit alcohol and smoking: besides the horrible effects alcohol, and different smoking paraphernalia have on your overall health, they will give you dull, gross looking skin and wrinkles
5. Stress: don't do it! It's not worth it. Take the time to relax, even if it's 10 minutes. Give yourself that gift!
6. Air quality: if you live in a place with a lot of smog or with a smoker, limit your time in that place or with that person. Or get them to quit all together. If this isn't an option, eat a lot of anti-oxidant rich foods to keep the free radicals your environment is barrading you with at bay.
7. Sun: wear SPF ALWAYS when outdoors. see:
http://www.gosunsmart.org/yourskin/yourskin_protection.shtml for for an idea of how much you should put on every day. Also, watch out for sneaky ways the sun can harm your skin with UV rays. Areas to watch out for: windows in your home and CAR
8. Dairy: watch your intake. It has been seen to be related to an increase in acne among teenagers and even adults. It is probably the natural hormones found in milk that are at fault since studies are finding it doesn't matter whether the sufferer drinks organic or normal milk.
