Helloo! I have been working on my new blog, Peaceful Vitality a lot recently so I've been neglecting this one. But neglect no more! This is going to remain my blog where I post more of a variety of things. Peaceful Vitality is about living a yoga-infused life, so it's more specific to that topic. Summer is here... sort of?

 

 

 

Summer is SUPPOSED to be here but it's been cloudy and misty in LA. No worries! I am going up to Northern California for the weekend to visit my family where it will be mid 80s - perfect for the fourth of July. Doesn't that blueberry cheesecake look amazing?? I'm going to have to make it... maybe this weekend? Living in an apartment, I can bake and cook whatever I want! What is it about getting older and living on your own that's so great? I guess it's particularly nice because my generous parents are still paying rent and tuition. But anyway, it's a great feeling to get to truly do whatever you want without RA's or sorority house moms, or your parents telling you what to do! I was made for adulthood (well obviously...but more so than many people I know). Not to say that it's easy. You start to realize that adults DON'T know everything like you once thought and that you probably know a lot more than many older adults on the planet. And that society isn't perfect (because you were once severly sheltered, which is actually quite nice but also quite the shock when you go to a place like UCLA) and that people can run companies and simultaneously make the earth bleed (Gulf Spill). You really start to realize how scary it is to be THE generation of the moment, expected to heal the earth, and save all people, completely unrealistic and tall requests. So, to distract me from mourning society, I think about summer, photography, high top chucks, cheesecakes, running, the ocean, and Hawaii (among other things). Namaste.

A quick "I want" post

 

This dog is so pretty. Not only can I not wait to get a dog when I go to grad school, but I can't wait to take pictures like that with the DSLR I'm getting soon. But I AM content right now, that's definitely not an issue. It's really sad to me when people are always looking to some distant future where they will have something else or some aspect of their lives will be different. Or when people take jobs they can't stand and do a 9-5 just because it's what society expects of them and it's what they expect of themselves. Whatever happened to doing what you loved and being content today??! Wake up people!! Quite wasting your lives sleeping through what life is: the journey ITSELF!

Appreciation for Women...

 

 

Aren't women in general such a lovely half of humanity? As a (straight) woman, and a feminist, I can't help but see some other women and really admire their beauty, resilience, and strength. Wouldn't you agree? Women are so competitive with each other and this is really unfortunate. We should spend less time looking each other up and down, and more time promoting women's rights and admiring each others beauty inside and out.

the leopard shoes are AMAZING. I love weird, funky, original things. Although, it's difficult to blog about trivialities like fashion when things like the oil spill are going on all over the place. But I guess you need a little triviality in your life so as not to take oneself too seriously, don't you think?
